Weddings are so much easier when you're a bridesmaid: your outfit is pretty much chosen for you. Now I'm finding myself on the other side of the aisle as a wedding guest, wondering what to wear.

Then I saw an article the other day on what women shouldn't wear to weddings, so I read through it for some guidance:

No white. Obviously. No animal print. I would never, plus it's summer. No yoga pants/sweatshirts/comfy clothes. (Seriously, that was part of the article.) Ok, this does not help.

This powder blue romper from Tobi saved the day! Again. I wore it to my brother's wedding rehearsal the beginning of the month and now I'm wearing it today to watch two of my friends get hitched (with these heels). #noshame It's perfect because it actually fits (a major hurdle, really), the color screams summer and I'm basically wearing shorts to a wedding which, in this heat, is much needed. Cheers to dancing the night away and hoping the rain holds off!

Don't forget - new Tobi customers receive 50% off their first order!

EARRINGS: JewelMint [love these] // RING: Express [similar]

I've been thinking a lot lately about my closet.

I'm a big creature of habit and only rotate through a certain number of items each season, letting everything else I have just hang out (pun intended).

Maybe it's because I'm moving in a few months, or maybe because I'm bored with my closet but lately I feel the need to purge most items and start editing my closet down to a collection that I will actually wear and love.

My budget is limited so when I found Tobi, I was really excited to discover an online shop with so many pieces that I could see myself wearing and loving. Anything off-the-shoulder makes me feel so feminine so this white number was immediately on my list. It's a great addition to my closet and so are these floral sandals. (Hello date night!)

Stay tuned the next few weeks, I'll be sharing more Tobi items that I love.
In the meantime, shop more of my favorite items below + new customers get 50% off their first order!

My First Bikini Wax With Shobha

July 20, 2016

TMI alert comin' at ya.....

I'm 31 and I've never had a professional wax. Eyebrows, arms, legs, armpits... the bikini zone... nada.

Two reasons I've been scared: just the general though of waxing, duh, and what if I pick a salon that results in me having a horrible experience? No thanks, I'll just keep buying wax strips from the store and hope I know what I'm doing.

Then a few weeks ago, after an unfortunate boo boo when trying to get myself bikini ready, I realized I should just leave waxing to the pros. That's why they exist after all! Shortly after that, I received an invitation to check out the new Rockville location of waxing spa, Shobha.

Shobha, Shobha Rockville Pike, waxing spa, threading bar, My Shobha, Maryland waxing salon, Hairless Happiness, Naturally Me

Talk about perfect timing for me to give this wax thing a try!

But first, grab a friend. That's Bikini Wax 101, right?

I asked my BFF if she'd like to join, hoping I didn't have to experience all this alone and she'd want to try bikini waxing as well. We put the event on our calendars, excited for a girls date yet nervous/curious about how much it would hurt.

Once I arrived, I was greeted by the sweetest staff. As I was waiting to be called back, I shopped the shelves of natural beauty products, enjoyed some liquid courage champagne and had the chance to talk to the founder, Shobha. She was the sweetest! We chatted about how she started Shobha in 2001 (from a single chair inside a SOHO salon) and then I told her I've never had a wax. She assured me I came to the right place and suggested I try regular wax as well as sugaring.

Sugaring is a more gentle, all-natural hair removal that uses a mixture of sugar, lemon juice, water and glycerin. The sugaring method pulls less on hair, yet effectively removes hair from the root. It doesn't hurt as much as regular wax and you'll notice less redness and irritation.

Crazy, right?!

Before the first drip of wax touched my skin, my technician Michelle asked me to taste the wax. Yep! Taste. The. Wax. After a skeptical 'seriously?!', I went for it. It was actually really sweet because of all the natural ingredients. (Then she told me there is a no double-dipping policy so that was reassuring.)

Fast forward through just a few painful moments, me holding my breath, lots of nervous sweat and questions, and I am completely ready to throw my wax strips away.

So, waxing or sugaring?

Sugaring all the way. I could definitely tell a difference between the two in the first "test" on my skin, and Michelle and I both agreed to stick with sugaring. It was noticeably less painful! Michelle even did some touch up by threading which didn't hurt much either.

This may sound crazy but I am still so happy with my entire experience at Shobha. Michelle was so helpful in answering my questions, sharing the entire process, giving advice on the easy upkeep and recommending products to use in between visits. I already can't wait to go back.

If you have never tried waxing yet, or are in search of a better place, I highly recommend Shobha. I promise I'm not turning into a beauty blogger, but I just had to share my experience. And plus, we all need to feel extra fabulous in a bikini!

#HairlessHappiness, for sure!

Shobha is located at 1800 Rockville Pike. If you're in the area, stop by and see Michelle... she rocks! There are also locations in NYC and DC and you can book appointments online.

I received a complimentary wax from Shobha, however all opinions are my own.

Tips To Start Your Fitness Journey With Le Fit Plan

July 18, 2016

You guys, I am so excited for today's guest post! I recently "met" Lily from Le Fit Plan via Twitter (don't judge) and we immediately connected. With her charisma, perspective and experience, I knew she'd be the perfect person to help me with competition advice. We've been emailing constantly and she's also helping me learn the world of macros with a custom meal plan. I'm so thankful to connect with such a sweet person that I can learn a lot from.

She recently left her teaching job to pursue Le Fit Plan full time, and I thought it'd be great for her to share some goodies here - especially for those who are just beginning a fitness journey. If this post isn't the perfect #mondaymotivation, I don't know what is. I hope you enjoy it!

------------------

You've decided to change your life and make your health a priority ~ congratulations!

Taking the time to invest in you is incredibly important and often times the hardest steps come first. To help you through the beginning of your fitness journey, let's talk about how you can monitor your progress, stay on track and still enjoy life.

Let's get started!

Monitor Your Progress

Most people use the scale to determine how well their fitness goals are being accomplished.

While the scale is one tool that can be used, you should also take progress pictures once a week in addition to measuring your waist. Use a tape measure and measure your waist at the belly button and track this number.

The reason why visual aids like pictures and measurements are helpful is because as you lose body fat and gain muscle, your weight might not change much. This doesn't mean you've failed - it just means that your body is adding muscle mass which is leaner and healthier than fat. Weigh yourself once a week at the same time, on the same scale and preferably in the same spot. Keep all variables the same so that you can get the most accurate reading.

Balance Your Diet

Whether your diet is as 'clean' as a whistle or you're a junk food queen, it's important to track what you're eating. Many people eat so-called 'healthy' or 'natural' foods and still struggle to lose weight. Why is that? If you are eating over your body's maintenance level for calories you won't lose body fat and it doesn't matter if those extra calories are in almond butter or french fries!

Pick a website like My Fitness Pal and track a few days worth of food. You might be surprised to see where you're spending most of your calories - even if they're in protein bars, salads or smoothies, they all add up!

Being aware of what a portion is can also help you on your quest to gain muscle and lose fat. Purchasing a digital scale and using it when you prepare food at home is one way to be 100% sure that you've got your portions right. Weighing food when you're at a restaurant or with friends isn't necessary - simply go for an item that has lean protein with vegetables. Ask for no oil or sauce on the side and inquire about how the protein is cooked if it isn't stated directly. There's no need to deprive yourself but when dining out, it's best to stick to the basics when you're committed to losing fat and jump starting your fitness goals!

Sweat It Out

If you're thinking about doing house of cardiovascular activity a week... think again! While cardio is essential to maintaining a healthy body, most people rely on it too heavily when they are trying to lose weight.

The key to losing body fat is changing your diet and eating below your maintenance level. If you are on track with your nutrition, workouts will give you the boost you need to gain muscle and lose fat. Building muscle is the key to reshaping your body, revving up your metabolism and keeping your bones healthy - a big priority for women of any age! A pound of muscle weighs the same as a pound of fat but muscle is lean, takes up less space, and burns more calories to exist. Sculpting sexy curves and losing inches isn't possible with just cardio - so head into the weight room at least 3 times a week to see the best possible results.

My Style: Beach Trip Packing List

July 1, 2016

For my annual birthday trip with the boyfriend last year, I celebrated turning 30 in Puerto Rico and the year before that we were in Miami so it's now time for our 2016 trip. This year's getaway: Rehoboth Beach!

I know, not quite as exciting as our previous destinations, but my brother is getting married a week from tomorrow (eek!) so we are keeping this year's vacation short and sweet + closer to home. It's going to be a jam-packed week but I absolutely cannot wait!

I'm pretty awesome at over packing even for short trips, but I'm really trying to keep it simple this year since we won't be gone long. (Plus, more than likely I'll have to unpack and repack before heading home.) Check out what I'll be packing for our trip - you can shop each item right from the post!

summer, summertime, beach trip, vacation, beach getaway, what to pack for a beach vacation, beach trip packing list, getaway, beach, rehoboth beach

We don't have any specific plans except enjoying the beach so of course, the usual beach-side essentials are important: swim suits (especially a chic one piece), a towel, sunscreen and a cover up or 2. (I didn't have a chance to scoop up this all natural sunscreen before our trip - but I'll be buying some to use the rest of summer!)

And you can't forget the cutest way to stay hydrated with S'ip x Swell's new line at Target. They keep your water cold all day!

When we're not at the beach, I'll be reaching for items I can just throw on for an evening on the boardwalk and dinner. So, basically ALL the dresses and rompers, sandals and maybe even a pair of sneakers.

We leave Tuesday, so be sure to follow my adventures over on Instagram or Snapchat (kelllybelllly)!

Any must-do activities, sights, or restaurants we need to know about in Rehoboth? Tell me!
