What's a girl to pack for a weekend in NYC but a lot of black. I've been gravitating toward it a lot lately and this Express jumpsuit has so many interesting parts, I had to have it: mesh, cutouts, flowy pants. It was definitely love at first sight, just like my first jumpsuit, and a chic black jumpsuit goes a long way.

The Meal Deal: Hometown Harvest

To me, there's nothing more perfect than a summer afternoon spent at your local farmer's market, walking through the maze of vendors selling sweet treats, fresh bread, and tons of produce.

Literally about a month before the last one, I discovered a farmer's market down the street from me - that filled a parking lot. I was in heaven: fruits, vegetables, bread and even local wine! But, if you're in the DC area like me, the farmer's markets close down well before the freezing cold air arrives and snow begins to fall.

So, with no farmer's markets to raid, I've been frequenting the grocery store even though it's just not the same experience - or quality of produce. But what's a girl to do? That's when I discovered the whole produce-delivery-service so I looked to see if such a thing existed within delivery range of me. Then I found Hometown Harvest.

Hometown Harvest is a produce delivery company owned and operated by Tony and Abby Brusco, local Frederick County farmers. They work with farmers all around the area to deliver seasonal fruits and veggies, nuts, artisan bakery items and gluten-free goodies within a couple days of being harvested.

I was so excited to try it out and the whole process couldn't be easier: there are several different size bags you can order, and you can even customize it if there are additional items you want included. You literally just pick from a list - it's so easy. There are no membership fees and you can skip deliveries too if you'll be out of town.

So, here's what was in my (small) bag:

- Pinklady apples
- Red & white beets (organic)
- Carrots (organic)
- Grapefruit
- Redbor kale (organic)
- Lettuce (organic)
- Sweet fingerling potatoes (organic)

The quality of the produce was great and it was the perfect size bag for me. (Ok, the fruit was my favorite part!) I loved coming home to a bagful of fresh produce... literally farm-to-front door which is the best! You also get information on where each item came from and if it's organic. How cool is it to see what local farm grew your kale or apples?

I decided to challenge myself to make a meal with most of the veggies - even though I've never cooked with kale or beets before - and decided to make Sweet Potato & Kale Hash, with a side of Roasted Beets. Both came out so yummy - and (bonus) only require 1 pot each so you don't have to do much cleanup which is always a plus.

My first hash recipe: a success! I envisioned it as a dinner recipe which is why I added chicken, but you could easily swap the chicken with sweet sausage for breakfast. And don't forget a sunny side up egg, too!

I was a little afraid to cook with beets - but this recipe is easy peasy and I am so happy with how it came out! The honey makes this dish just a tad bit sweet.

One of my 2016 goals is to branch out and find inspiration in new places - whether it's fitness related or not. A few months ago, I realized there was a podcast app on my phone so I started searching and found several that I now listen to on a daily basis. Keep reading for my favorite podcasts!

The FitCast - A fitness-related podcast was at the top of my list to find and The FitCast is everything I've been looking for! It's a really informative podcast on fitness and nutrition (which I'm trying to learn more about). The guy behind the podcast is Kevin Larrabee, a Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist. Definitely someone who I can learn a lot from! Some of my favorite episodes include: living your best year, getting the most out of your workouts, goal setting and how much mindset matters (in anything you do!).

The Self Help Podcast - I started listening to this podcast first and immediately wanted to write everything down. The two hosts, psychotherapist Sean Orford and designer Edward Lamb, focus on inspiring listeners to live a happy life and ways to achieve it. Some of my favorite episodes include: how to define success, laughing through life and the importance of lifelong learning.

The Sporkful - This podcast is so entertaining and reminds me why I love to cook... and eat. Hosted by The Cooking Channel's Dan Pashman, this podcast covers the funniest (and true!) topics that make you laugh because they're so accurate. Some of my favorites: when a pancake is more than a pancake and should bagels ever be toasted?

A lot of the episodes are short enough to listen to on my lunch break which I love! My list is kinda short still so I'm on the hunt for other podcasts (yoga-related, fitness, inspirational, funny) so if you have recommendations I'd love to know!

These days, I'm all about easy outfits that I can literally just throw on and leave for work because I hit the snooze button 20 times. (I blame my electric blanket.) So, WHY haven't I discovered shirt dresses before now? I found this belted shirt dress and loved the bold grid print (or is it windowpane?).

Throw on tights and boots and you're out the door in a jif, so it's okay to sleep in a little more, right?! I've since bought another shirt dress for work... because when you find a good thing, buy several.

I don't mean to sound like a broken record, but Target, you friggin' rock my world. I found these black and white grid print joggers and was really impressed with the quality. Sometimes, I just want to wear pants that are a bit more loose and comfy since I can't go to work in my sweatpants. Sigh. Nail Polish That Lasts During Workouts

Raise your non-manicured hand if you can't keep nail polish on to save your life. The struggle is so real for me. If you've seen this Instagram post recently, you know I cannot keep a mani for more than 2 days. Sometimes after just a day, I start seeing major chips and the color just peels off which drives me bonkers.

I've read and saved countless articles on how to achieve the perfect, long-lasting mani and I've tried each recommendation with high hopes: clean and file nails first, don't file nails, wipe with nail polish remover before painting, apply a clear base coat, etc. My head is spinning!

A few weekends ago, I was cleaning out my bathroom closet and came across the Sally Hansen Insta Gel Salon kit that my brother got me for Christmas a few years ago (oops!). I've been getting incredibly frustrated with nail polish lately so I figured why not finally try it out and see if it's any better than my usual manicure.

Let me just say - BYE liquid nail polish! This gel kit is magical: application was so easy (though a little more involved than the regular mani) but it's soooo worth it. Plus, when you buy a kit it comes with the cutest mini LED light to cure the polish strip.

One of the things I loved even more: I didn't have to wait for the nail polish and topcoat to dry. You know the drill: planning when you're painting your nails so you know that laundry is done and you don't have to touch anything for a while. *cue waving your hands to make them dry faster* The light really seals the topcoat on and there was zero smudging. It was wonderful to just go about my day without worrying about messing my nails up.

So how long did it last? A solid 2 weeks - and I know I could've gotten more wear, too. (I was tired of the color by that time, so I took them off.) Zero chips and they stayed so shiny! I felt like I actually had a gel manicure from the salon. All you need for removal is regular nail polish remover. It took a little extra cleaning because of the gel, but my nails weren't affected at all.

Bottom line: I'm definitely investing in these gel strips more often. They are the only thing I've found that can stand up to every day wear - and daily workouts - while still looking expensive. Two (perfectly manicured) thumbs up!

Red Jumpsuit: A Love Story

I've never been a fan of jumpsuits on myself. Any that I tried on were too tight in all the wrong places. Then one day, after having everything nothing to wear, I decided to stop at the mall to find an outfit for an event just a few hours away. I popped in H&M and this red jumpsuit caught my eye immediately. I was skeptical (yet in love) so I tried it on and we've been together ever since. We may just celebrate Valentine's Day together, too. My kinda love story! xo

Valentine's Day Gift Guide: For The Fitness Lover

Oh hello, February!

How we're already over a month into 2016 I don't know, but we're in the month of love. Don't worry, this isn't going to be a mushy post - but if you're a fitness lover... listen up! If I was to write Cupid and tell him everything I wanted for Valentine's Day, this would be it. Keep reading for my Valentine's Day gift guide for the fitness lover!

Ok, a few of these items I already own (like this watch and these leggings) but everything else on here I'm dying to add to my cart.

My number one item: the S'Well bottle. I pretty much want it in every color, but we'll start with pink. Not only cute, but I've read that they really keep water (and other liquids) cool for over a day. Maybe a hot pink water bottle will actually help me remember to take water with me to yoga class. Sigh.

Call me crazy, but cute workout clothes are a huge motivator. I have a thing for leggings, tanks with bad@$$ sayings and these Under Armour sports bras are fan-tas-tic. I bought one to try, then went back for a couple more. They provide the perfect amount of support and are so comfortable.
