In addition to Friday's #MyStyle post, I've been planning out more regular content for this little blog and I thought it would be fun to start a series where I share a few of my favorite things a la Oprah - except affordable.
The possibilities are endless: active wear, workout accessories, food (nothing sponsored, unless noted) and perhaps even a really good article I think you should read. My goal for this series is that you find these favorites helpful - especially if it's a product or item that you've been thinking about trying.
As always, feel free to leave a comment, email (alissakelly1 at gmail.com) or tweet if there's anything you think I should try to include in my fitness favorites, or any other posts you'd like to see. I hope you like this new series as much as I do! :)
Let's get started with my current top 5 fitness favorites, shall we?
1. Flip Belt
The whole time I've been working out (3+ years now) I've had a Nike armband to put my phone in. Mad love for ya, Nike, but man alive those armbands suck. The plastic cover got so worn out I couldn't use my phone and it wouldn't stay on my arm once the velcro decided to quit working. (So much fun to deal with when you're in the middle of bicep curls.)
I've gone through 2 and finally had enough, but this girl needs her workout music, so once I found Flip Belt I thought it could be a good product to try. I looked at them online, then my local running store sent me a $15 off coupon so I stopped in to find something to buy - and they had Flip Belts! I ended up getting mine for $8! Totally meant to be. (Pssst - it comes in 9 different colors, too.)
A couple months later, I use it every day at the gym and love love love it. (Yes, that's 3 loves.) It holds the key to my gym locker, phone and anything else I need. Plus, I love not having my phone on my arm and it's easy to take out if I need to do so. Game changer.
Where to buy: FlipBelt.com, Bed Bath & Beyond, Dick's Sporting Goods, Target, or your local running/sport store.
2. RX Bars
Yet another protein bar on the market, right? Wrong! If you're new to RX Bars, they're protein bars with no BS. Seriously, every single one has just a handful of ingredients right on the front of each package and no added sugar.
I received an email for 15% off + free shipping so I thought it was the perfect time to try them. Plus, 2 words: pumpkin spice. Sold. I immediately ordered a box of 12 because I was pretty sure I wouldn't hate them. Result: I need to stock up on that deliciousness before they're gone (since they're limited edition). #basic
Sidenote: Not only do these bars taste SO GOOD, the company's customer service is on point. You may have seen on Snapchat (kelllybelllly) that my package arrived as 12 assorted flavors instead of the box of 12 pumpkin spice bars I thought was coming. I reached out to RX Bar and they immediately shipped a new order free of charge. Can't thank Alyssa and the RX Bar team enough for that!
So far I've tried the apple cinnamon, chocolate sea salt, mint chocolate and pumpkin spice. My favorites by far are the apple cinnamon and pumpkin spice!
Where to buy: online at rxbar.com or check their store locator.
In case you haven't heard of Gardein (garden + protein = Gardein), they are Vegan, all natural, plant-based meatless meals that are made with soy, wheat, ancient grains (like quinoa!) and veggies.
I first tried Gardein products at the DC Yoga Expo in August and was really surprised at how good they were. We got a coupon in our goody bags, so I figured I'd get one of their products to try beyond one bite.
Aside from being a little bit expensive for my taste (ha), they are really yummy! Out of their 30 products, I've tried the Meatless Meatballs and the Seven Grain Crispy Tenders so far and loved both. There's no weird texture or taste (which I can't stomach) and it seriously tastes like I'm eating real meat - especially the tenders!
Where to buy: Safeway, Giant, Target, Whole Foods, Harris Teeter, Wegman's. Find a store near you here.
I haven't had Ranch dressing in I don't know how long, but all I need in my life is Walden Farms Balsamic Vinaigrette dressing. Seriously. If you follow me on Snapchat (kelllybelllly), you might have noticed I put this sh!t on everything. Okay, just salads and veggies really, but I eat a lot of that stuff on a daily basis.
This seriously tastes like regular Balsamic dressing from any other brand name. While it does contain a bit more sodium than I'd like, the calories, fats, carbs and sugar are all zero so I can feel pretty guilt-free when I eat it. #winning
Next, I NEED to try Walden Farms' pancake syrups. I know they're sold online but I haven't been able to find any in store yet. (If you've seen it, do tell!)
Where to buy: Amazon, Giant, Harris Teeter, Super Fresh, Vitacost, Walden Farms.
I do have a sweet tooth but I'm trying to find ways to indulge a little more health-conscious. (Today, I am officially done with the 21 day no processed sugar challenge.. look out!!)
A few months ago, I spotted The Complete Cookie and I was curious so I bought the double chocolate cookie and oh m'goodness it was delicious! They're chewy which is how a cookie should be and they have a great taste.
I imagined them as an ice cream sandwich, the base of a sundae, or crumbled on top of a bowl of ice cream. They're Vegan, non-GMO and packed with 16g of protein and 8g of fiber but you wouldn't even know that they're a much better indulgence.
Where to buy: LennyLarry.com, Amazon, Bodybuilding.com, GNC, Rite Aide, The Vitamin Shoppe, Whole Foods.
Have you tried any of these products? What are your thoughts?
