Styled By Shell B

April 10, 2014

I am so excited to be able to share these photos! You may have seen on Instagram I had the pleasure to be part of a DC Blogger styling and photo shoot a few weeks ago thanks to the lovely personal stylist and blogger, Shell B. Keep on reading for photos and what it was all about!

Top: ModCloth / Skirt: J.Crew [similar] / Heels: BCBGeneration via TJ Maxx [love these] /
Clutch: Gap [similar] / Cuff: Tory Burch [similar] / Rings: Target & ASOS /

The project: each blogger chooses a "trouble piece" - something we haven't worn much or don't know quite how to style. I immediately thought of this gorgeous J.Crew skirt. I bought it because it's flowy and my favorite color but I've only paired it with black (boring!) and needed help reworking it into my wardrobe.

So, I packed my skirt and other clothes and met Shell B for a styling session which was a blast. We got lost in the land of clothes and shoes, then she pulled out this blush lace top for me to try on with the skirt. I was amazed at how great the two look together! After the session, I left feeling so refreshed and wanting to style more outfits with what I already own.

I knew this experience would be fun but I had no idea how much deeper it would go for me. Being a fashion blogger, sometimes it's hard to refrain from buying items you are craving.  Before you know it, you're buying so many items you can't keep up and your closet gets out of control. Clothes get pushed aside and forgot about. It was so great to see her work and give me new outfit ideas using what I already own. All of which I never thought about pairing together. (Case in point: this all white outfit and floral outfit) She is amazing!

  3. Alissa!! You were the last blogger I styled for this project and I was just so in love with this look. It was so sweet, feminine & romantic and I thought it looked amazing on you. The other ladies were DY.ING. over that skirt and I totally get it because I was too the second I saw it. It was such a pleasure getting to know you & style you. I hope you'll make it down to Nashville for a visit, I'd looooove that! xoxoxoxo.
