Goodies: Bloomers

July 31, 2013

I've recently shared my favorite summer sleepwear picks, so I figured why not also share some other favorite items that I wear every day - under my favorite outfits. Have you heard of Bloomers? It's a store that focuses on basic undergarments and sleepwear (not lingerie). I popped into the Georgetown store over the weekend to shop see for myself.

Let's start with bras, shall we? While I'm a big believer that the clothes you wear should make you feel good, I also believe that what's underneath can make a big difference. Bloomers carries over 100 bra sizes and many styles for everyday wear. (And they do bra fittings!)

Sure us ladies love the glitzy bras but they don't really work under a basic v neck tee unless you're Penny from the Big Bang Theory. The Spanx bras are to. die. for. I didn't know they existed so I had to try one on and oh the comfort! Definitely worth the price.

While this may be obvious, I'm going to say it anyway: panty lines make me cringe. At Bloomers, there is no shortage of cute underwear that is also functional... just part of their nearly 30 brands! As much as I love online shopping, I'm glad I found a local store that focuses on everyday needs and couldn't leave without some pretty little things! In case you want to stop by, Bloomers is in 3 different locations (Georgetown, Old Town Alexandria and Shirlington). Happy shopping!

Disclaimer: This post is a collaboration with Bloomers however all opinions are my own.

Birchblogger: Simple Skincare Review

July 29, 2013

skincare, review, skincare review, Simple, Simple Skincare

My skincare routine has been the same for a while, until this summer. After researching, I decided to test some products and change my skincare routine. Before I could jump in, I found out I was one of the Birchbloggers picked to try and review a few products from the new Simple Skincare line! Here's how I feel about these products after using them daily for over a month:

Eye Make-up Remover Pads: These are a lot smaller than what I'm used to so I usually use 2 each time I cleanse my face. But they are great on-the-go! (Truth be told: I still mainly use the Neutrogena cleansing towelettes.)

Soothing Eye Balm: This is the perfect eye cream in a tube. It's lightweight and has extra vitamins to soften and moisturize. It definitely wakes up my tired eyes in the morning!

Light Moisturizer: This moisturizer certainly lives up to its name: it is very light and my skin doesn't feel dry or tight after I apply it. I love having SPF in a moisturizer and I've been using this one a lot when I know I'll be out in the sun all day.

Have you used any of these products? What did you think of them?

Disclosure: Birchbox gifted me the set of Simple Skincare but all opinions are my own.

Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Picks

July 24, 2013

Well, I told myself I wouldn't look at all the amazingness that the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale has to offer but I cracked. Even though the thought of sleeves makes me cringe, if I had all these items in my closet I'd be ready for falling leaves and colder weather.

I went waaay overboard in sharing my picks but I seriously love all these items and I also love sharing! I've been on the hunt for boyfriend jeans (the ones above are $35!), a go-to trench coat and whimsical sweaters. Plus a sheath dress with faux leather accents never hurt anyone either. So shop away! You can shop my picks below or via Pinterest!

What are your picks from the sale?

What makes for an amazing Saturday? Spending all day at a Wine Festival with good music, delicious wine and laughing with friends. The rain held off and I have so many corks to add to my growing collection. Not to mention being able to shoot outfit photos among the vineyard. It was magical! Hope you all had a great weekend!

My shorts collection is very... short (and sweet) but I couldn't help scooping up this tropical pair while I was making a Target trip. I didn't try them on and figured I'd return them if I suddenly hated the print or they didn't fit but, well, clearly that didn't happen! Impromptu purchase crisis averted.

Goodies: Cut Out Dresses

I'm obsessed with dresses. They're so easy to throw on and instantly make you look put together without much thought. Maxi dresses are comfortable, sun dresses are fun and cut out dresses are now my new favorite. There's just something so girly and flirty about the peek a boo cut outs that I love.

I came this close to purchasing the first 2 dresses - both from Forever 21 and of course at killer prices. What am I waiting for?? I have no clue... but you really can't go wrong with any of these pieces. They're not too revealing yet add a fresh new perspective on the summer dress.

Which dress is your favorite?

Easy Breezy

Cuff: Tory Burch [similar] / Wallet: Kate Spade / Toes: Essie "Naughty Nautical"

As much as I love pairing sequins with scallops, sometimes it's too hot for any kind of sleeves. Lately, I'm trying to keep cool by wearing a skirt and easy breezy tank top. Simple... and quick!

What's your go to summer style?

I was so glad when this LWD finally showed up on my doorstep the day we left for vaca, so I made it my birthday outfit for a night on the boardwalk. We fought the crowds for dinner at the Green Turtle and of course I had to make a salt water taffy stop before watching the most magical fireworks on the beach. Can I please go back??

Beach Wear

July 9, 2013

Coverup: Target [similar] / Swim Suit: Target / Beach Tote: Target / Hat: Target
Sunnies: Rent The Runway [similar] / Nails: Essie "Butler Please" /

This is what I pretty much lived in most of our beach vacation and it was fantastic right down to the smell of sun screen. (I guess I love Target so much that I take as many of my favorite items as I can to the beach with me.) Since it's been a few years since we've had any type of getaway, this past week was so relaxing. I couldn't wait to wear my Target cover up and it ended up being the source of a few beach conversations started by ladies who just had to know where I got it. Stay tuned for more vacation photos this week!

P.S. These pictures are the very first ones taken with my new camera! Since I bought it right before we left for the beach, I haven't learned much of it. Any suggestions?

July 4th Pinspiration

July 8, 2013

I'm in a red, white and blue state of mind with Independence Day coming up and Pinterest is just feeding my inspiration. However, my decision-making ability is not that great since I still haven't decided on an outfit... or manicure. Of course I have to look festive for celebrating America and turning 28 but what's a girl to wear? (Contemplating a variation of this outfit and similar nails like the ones below.)

I'm also too excited to focus on anything but being on the beach in a few days. Do you know what you're wearing for the 4th? Any fun plans? xo

A Short Story

I hope everyone had a great weekend! My parents came to visit and I wore this outfit for a night out exploring Frederick. [Shorts last seen here] Call me crazy but when I know I'll be walking a lot, I like to throw on a pair of patterned shorts, tank top and sandals (which are much cuter than sneakers and still easy on my feet). After getting caught in a torrential downpour for dinner, I was pretty glad I decided to throw a hat on too!
