All I Want For My Birthday Is....

June 27, 2013

Ohmygawdyouguyz. In 1 week I turn another year older and I'm not sure how to feel about it.

When I look back it's crazy how long ago high school was.. or even college for that matter. As much as I'd like to cry a little, I'm excited to celebrate my birthday and Independence Day. (Fireworks?! For me? You shouldn't have!) With my birthday so close, I just had to put together a special wishlist. Mom, you asked me what I want - here you go!

And, just like last year, any and all gifts are accepted - on time or belated! ;)

Little White Dress

June 26, 2013

Dress: Old Navy [love this one] / Bag: Zara / Heels: Shoemint / Hat: Target
Bracelet: Eastern Market / Sunnies: Karen Walker / Nail Polish: Essie "Madison Ave-hue"

Since it's okay to wear white year-round now is it also encouraged to match your shoes and bag? Because clearly I am having a black, white and tan moment!

Fresh Mint

June 25, 2013

Dress: Everly [similar 1 & 2] / Sandals: Target / Bag: Zara [on sale!] /

This is one dress I cannot ever part with [last seen here]. I just love it so much every time I put it on! It really doesn't need much so I paired it with tan sandals and (since it's been very hot + humid) no accessories. Bare is the new cool ;)

Anchors Away

June 24, 2013

Tee: Target / Shorts: Gap [similar] / Shoes: Converse / Bag: Forever 21 [similar] /
Bracelet: Eastern Market / Sunnies: Betsey Johnson [similar] /
Nail Polish: Essie "Madison Ave-hue"Lips: Dior Addict Lip Glow /

Hope you all had a great weekend! Sometimes you just need to keep it simple with a tee and shorts. I'm definitely getting into the 4th of July (and my birthday) spirit with this nautical look!

The High Low Dress

June 20, 2013

Dress: Target / Bag: Zara / Heels: Prabal Gurung for Target [love these & these] /
Nail Polish: Color Club "Reign In Spain" (ring finger: Essie "Turquoise and Caicos") /

Funny story: I went into Target because I needed lotion. Did I get lotion? No because I was distracted by the amazing maxi dresses like this high-low number (and this one). I'm so late to the trend but I was waiting to find THE dress. The pattern alone is great but what really sold me was the cobalt piping. A little extra pop of color can be just enough to take a dress to the next level. Plus, it's so flattering and made for the perfect outfit to wear to an impromptu DC outing to meet Lauren Weisberger. (Pinch me!)

Summer Paisley

June 18, 2013

Dress: Target / Sandals: Target / Bag: Forever 21 [similar] / Sunnies: LOFT [similar] /

Hypothetically speaking, when you're out celebrating a BFF's birthday and don't get to sleep until after 4am - only to get up and put yourself together for an 11:30am brunch, you wear a maxi dress. The easiest, no-fuss 5-minute outfit for stuffing my face with waffles and a side of macaroni and cheese. All around it was the best way to celebrate Ashley's birthday! Hypothetically speaking of course. ;)

Goodies: Gorjana & Griffin

June 17, 2013

Summertime makes me long for anything nautical-inspired so of course I fell in love with these dainty pieces from Gorjana & Griffin. As much as I love a bold statement necklace, a barely-there necklace with a nautical charm still adds just as much....charm to an outfit. (Pun not really intended.)

I'm not really sure which is my favorite - I seriously love each one. They would be perfect with a simple striped dress or even as an addition to a swim suit on our trips to the bay.

Would buying them all be too much?

Spots & Scallops

June 14, 2013

Sunnies: LOFT [similar] / Nail Polish: Essie "Meet Me At Sunset" / Toes: Essie "Bikini So Teeny" /

...the only kind of scallops I like ;) Happy Friday loves!

P.S. Not much longer to take advantage of my StripedShirt discount code!

Rainy Day Stripes

June 12, 2013

Dress: J.Crew [similar] / Shoes: Converse via Zappos / Umbrella: Totes via Target
Sunnies: LOFT [similar] / Nail Polish: Essie "Meet Me At Sunset" /

It's been raining cats and dogs here which is a fashion bloggers nightmare. However, I decided to look on the bright side and use my Target umbrella but when I stepped outside the rain stopped. (Why am I not surprised??) This striped dress is another item I've had for a while and I love the relaxed weekend look it gives off when paired with Chuck Taylor All Stars. But as much as I love this outfit and occasional rainy day style - I'd be okay with the rain stopping for a few weeks. Or months.

What's your favorite rainy day style?

A Gap Dress Reinvented

June 11, 2013

floral dress, gap

floral dress, neon yellow clutch

floral dress, silver cap toe heels, neon yellow crossbody bag

gorjana & griffin, floral dress

floral dress, Gap, white shirt, neon clutch

Dress: Gap [love this one] / Shirt: NY&Co. [similar] / Heels: Aldo
Crossbody Bag (used as a clutch): Old Navy [similar] / Number Rings: Gorjana & Griffin [similar] /
Sunnies: LOFT [similar] / Nail Polish: Essie "Meet Me At Sunset" /

I always have a hard time finding different ways to wear dresses and this floral Gap dress was no exception. (Last seen here.) Sure you can always switch up accessories and heels, but why stop there? I decided to layer a shirt underneath and first tried a chambray shirt, which looked better in my head. Enter: the most basic white short sleeve button down that I don't wear enough. The shirt changes the look of the dress and adds a more laid back element.

What different ways do you wear dresses?

Hat Trick

June 10, 2013

black maxi dress, fedora, bowing bag

black maxi dress, fedora, Target, Zara, bowling bag

black maxi dress, color blocked bag, bowling bag, fedora

black maxi dress, summer, color blocked bag, fedora

black maxi dress, color blocked bag, bowling bag, black sandals, glitter sandals

Maxi: unknown [similar] / Hat: Target / Sandals: Target / Bag: Zara
Sunnies: Betsey Johnson [similar] / Nails: Essie "Meet Me At Sunset"

I've owned this dress for several years now and was going to throw it away but rediscovered how great it is over the weekend. A black maxi dress is SO versatile (last seen here in the winter and here in the summer) and easy to throw on but this time I added a fedora for a more summery vibe. Honestly, I was kind of terrified to wear a hat in public but ya know what? It's growing on me!

Also, say hello to my new Zara mini bowling bag... the only kind of bowling-related accessory I can tolerate. The zipper detail and color blocking are amazing and it's not too big for my height. I'm in love! It really is amazing how new accessories (and stepping out of your comfort zone) can breathe new life into an old maxi dress!
