Friday's Fancies: Labor Day

August 31, 2012

Labor Day

While I await the arrival of my family for the long holiday weekend, I'm wishing this outfit could just appear in my closet. I'm thinking cooler weather and a fun day playing tourist in our new town. (And I'm also imagining that I have no budget.) Just a couple things I'm dying to get my hands on: boyfriend jeans, a cute sweater and the Cambridge Satchel Company leather cross-body bag in Kelly Green - or 1 of every color. Happy Friday!

P.S. The Washingtonian ShopAround blog did a post on how DC area bloggers are wearing military jackets/vests and I had the pleasure to be in the mix with some amazing ladies! Check it out here!

White After Labor Day?

Of course!!

I'm over at DC On Heels today talking about how I'm ignoring the no-white-after-Labor-Day rule (and you can too)! Click here.

Red Chevron Dress

August 29, 2012

My chevron obsession continues with this dress Meaghan gave to me. I wore it to church Sunday and felt so lady-like. The fit and red chevron pattern are simply divine and unlike anything in my closet! I wanted to let the dress speak, so kept the jewelry to a minimum (although, couldn't help adding more red with the heels). Now: how many times can I wear it before the cold creeps in??

Friday's Fancies: Road Trip

August 24, 2012

Road Trip Essentials

I am so excited to be part of the Friday's Fancies weekly link-up hosted by Alison at Long Distance Loving! So, pack your bags and use your imagination - it's road trip time!

I've been on many road trips so the first thing that comes to mind (besides leg cramps) would be comfort. I like to feel relaxed - but also put together - for arrival (especially if I can't change). And it doesn't get much more comfortable than a (jersey) maxi dress. It's almost like you're traveling in pajamas! Another item packed in my bag: chambray. When I get chills from the AC, I can slip the shirt on knotting it at the waist. Road trip chic.

All this talk of road trips is making me want to plan a real one. Happy Friday!

Cargo Vest & a Dress

August 23, 2012

Technically, my parents got me this vest as a late birthday gift. After stalking it online, but never taking the plunge, it ran out in my size. So I began emailing & tweeting Old Navy customer service, then calling around to nearly 10 stores - the last of which had it in my size. What can I say? I really wanted this gem (along with many others). Thanks for the birthday money, Mom & Dad! ;) I'm going to have so much fun styling it throughout the chilly months - but couldn't wait to pair it with this dress!

PS~ say hello to the very first splash of dark polish to grace my feet in a while. I couldn't wait any longer!

Goodies: Lovely Leather

August 21, 2012

Lovely Leather

Same series, new name! I've decided that when I rave about my current obsessions and cravings, it's going to be called GOODies. (Get it?!)

Now, onto today's GOODies. I have never been worn leather because I felt it was too "edgy"and not me. But ever since researching and gushing about my Fall Fashion Must-Haves, I have been craving (faux) leather, especially Zara's military jacket (middle). And a pretty leather peplum top? So feminine and versatile I can think of so many ways to style it!

Are you craving leather for fall like me?

Home Decor Pinspiration

August 19, 2012

Before we even began looking for our first home, I've was pinning home inspiration like crazy. Adding any chevron, paint, pillows, flowers and stencils galore to my "Future Homeowner" board. (I should probably change the title now!)

Now I can finally make my board & ideas come to life in our first home! A completely blank slate that we can make our own... starting with those annoying white walls! After over 6 years in and out of apartments, I'm painting color on every. single. wall.

Here are just some of the pins that are inspiring me.

Shark Week Cupcakes

August 17, 2012

I make cupcakes for anything - and for nothing sometimes, so I had to make the sweet treat in celebration of Shark Week!

I had the whole cupcake decor formulated in my head... the focal point being gummy sharks. I honestly thought they'd be easy to find. Wrong-o. I searched the candy aisles of Target, Wal-Mart, Home Depot, Giant and even a gas station. No gummy sharks to be found on land.

So Plan B: using my Cricut, I cut out sharks and life rings and attached them to toothpicks. Such an easy way to dress up cupcakes. I'm still happy with they way they turned out!

White cupcakes (made from scratch, mind you!) with tinted cream cheese frosting. Chomptastic.

PS - Next time I see gummy sharks, I am scooping those babies up like no one's business.

A Bloggy Birthday!

August 16, 2012

2 years ago today, I started this here blog!

Matt and I had just picked up everything in Pennsylvania, moved to Silver Spring, Maryland and I was Flying By the Seat of My Pants. I still am - but have since tailored my blog into fashion and I couldn't be happier with the switch. I read through my early blog posts and laughed so hard at myself! Case in point: talking about Sun Chips bags and rambling about cats.

Feeling Good has come a long way already - and I cannot thank you, my readers/supporters/followers, for coming back post after post. I'm so excited to see what the next 2 years - and beyond - brings!
