Thinking of You, Dan :)

Day 17: A picture of something that has had a huge impact on your life recently.

Matt, me, Kristin & Dan
I haven't been able to fully relate to having a loved on in the Armed Forces.  Writing stories and seeing video of what our troops and families go through breaks my heart and I send my thoughts up to them all.
What has made an impact on my life very recently was my brother in law heading off to basic training.  While teaching and doing construction jobs, life turned him in another direction.  He's been working out and preparing himself for this time and I'm so proud of him!  He's now in South Carolina -- working very hard and relying on letters from our family.  I've been thinking a lot of how much this impacts me and especially my Sister.  For the first time, I have very close ties to the Military and it's scary.  I pray for him and our families every day before bed.  I pray that God will keep him safe and strong in this time especially.

Before I knew Dan was committing, I've been wanting to volunteer for an organization to help our troops away from home.  (Still looking for one, if you know of any let me know!)  Now I want to help more than ever.  I cannot imagine how hard it must be... and all that is sacrificed by the troops AND their families.
Dan: I can't wait until you're home again!!  Stay strong and kick butt ;)

is a good program. they send you the name of a deployed soldier and you can send them letters and care packages. my husband received some stuff from different people that had his name during his deployments, and he said it really helps to build the morale of some of the guys (and girls) who don't have people to send them care packages :)

  2. Thank you SO much, didn't think to ask you about it! lol I checked out USO but it won't work with my schedule and I can't put as much time in as they need, so I'll definitely check this site out!

Thank you for reading and taking the time to send a message. xoxo
