I'll Trade Places With....

February 26, 2011

Day 6: A picture of someone you'd love to trade places with for a day.

I thought about the President, other celebs -- but really I'd love to trade places with one of the women above and co-anchor Fox & Friends.  After interning for the show in NYC an entire summer and working closely with these amazing people, I want to go back in the worst way.  I feel that I fit better in a morning show setting as a writer and producer because you can have so much more fun with segments (although the hours are rough).  Cooking, fashion, tech and everything in between.  I live for that stuff and it's all so fun to produce and watch!  I'd love for just one day to become an Alisyn or Gretchen: get glammed up and inform the millions of viewers about the days news, both good and bad.  Someday I'll not only do it for a day.... but everyday, each week and make a great career out of it -- in front of the camera :)  Until then, I'll just keep writing my little heart out for those who get face-time!

My New Favorite Show, Meoww

February 20, 2011

I have GOT to share this on my blog because it totally makes me feel happy and, therefore, good (as stated  in my blog title).
It all started when a coworker told me about a show called Must Love Cats on Animal Planet last Sunday.  After talking about it for hours and watching clips on the show's website, I made a mental note to watch it Saturday (yesterday).  TOTALLY forgot to watch it, until I was channel surfing and saw it on the TV guide (1 minute before it started!).  So I settled it, woke Matt up because I was SO excited to watch it, and two hours later was the happiest person on the earth.  Why?  Because I LOVE CATS.  Loove.  We had so many growing up - and still have one at home who is the best we've had yet (miss you, Chino) and Matt has 3 at home we wish we desperately miss.
The show follows a young man who literally travels all around the U.S. searching for cats and cat lovers to share their stories.  There was a tree climber who literally does nothing but rescues cats from treetops, folks who have kitty hotels, cat sanctuaries and much more.  It was soo neat!  He even visited and played with kittens which made me melt they were so tiny and playful!
One kitty tale was of Cooper: a cat photographer.  Yep.  His owners put a lightweight camera on his collar one day and let him roam freely like he normally does.  The camera takes a picture from his purrrr-spective (couldn't help it) every 2 minutes and they are really neat to see.  He has tons of developed and framed pictures in a gallery selling for over $200 and a book in the works!  Everything from other neighborhood cats to grass and the owner's baby.  I seriously want one of his pictures (some day).  Now they're even putting a video camera on him!  And watch out, he even has a Twitter account.
The point is: you NEED to see this cat, show or at least check out the show's website and watch some videos (links above).  It'll make you happy, just as it did me.  Why didn't I come up with this show idea?!?!!!!  More importantly- maybe the host needs a female co-host?!....

Figure Skating

February 16, 2011

Day #5: A picture of your favorite memory.

In pondering this day's picture.. one of the many favorite memories that came to mind is going to hockey practices with my Dad.  He was a hockey coach for a local team of young men and I can remember so many nights packing up my homework, driving to the ice rink with the family for practice.  Without fail, every time we arrived I wanted to lace up and skate with the players and my Dad immediately, but (at Mom's request) I just HAD to get my homework done first.  So I would fly through my work, lace up my skates, and hit the ice to work on my triple axels.
I would skate around, twirl around, wish I could do more elaborate moves and just really feel free!  It was so much fun to be at practice with the group, doing my own thing while I also saw my Dad being a teacher.  I can also fondly remember trying to do the fancy stop hockey players do (aka 'shave ice').  I never did quite get it.  I preferred (and still do) figure skates to hockey skates because I like to have the front pick to twirl.  haha!
And let's not forget the time that my sister fell on the ice, broke her chin open gushing blood on the ice.  Instead of freaking out and skating away, all the players skated through it.  I will never forget that!!
I fondly look back on those days and still wish I would've taken figure skating lessons.  I even had my own pair of white figure skates, until they were too small for my feet. :/
Someday I'd like to get back into skating more.. maybe play (or try to) my Dad in hockey since he's awesome at it!!  He's had quite the hockey career: coaching and playing himself into his 30's.  Another reason my Dad is awesome! xoxo

Love Is In The Air

February 14, 2011

How cute is this picture?!  I couldn't resist putting this on my blog for Valentine's Day.  Matt and I didn't do much, he's still working as I write this.  Saturday we had a date night, and today I came home from a long day at work to find a letter that brought tears to my eyes :)  In a very good way, of course.  Since money is tight for both of us, we didn't do or get anything -- but it's okay.  Better to not drain our money!  haha  I have found a great (and easy) recipe for Fettuccine Alfredo so I'm going to make that tonight for us (shhhh, it's a secret!)  Hope you all had a sweet day :)  I leave you with a great poem by E.E Cummings.

I Carry Your Heart With Me

I carry your heart with me (I carry it in my heart)
I am never without it (anywhere I go, you go my dear; and whatever is done by only me is your doing, my darling)
I fear no fate (for you are my fate, my sweet)
I want no world (for beautiful you are my world, my true)
And it's you are whatever a moon has always meant
And whatever a sun will always sing is you

Here is the deepest secret nobody knows
(Here is the root of the root and the bud of the bud, and the sky of the sky of a tree called life;
Which grows higher than the soul can hope or mind can hide)
And this is the wonder that keeps the stars apart

I carry your heart (I carry it in my heart)

We Are.... Movie Lovers!

February 13, 2011

Day #4: A picture of your night.

So, since I'm not looking ahead and didn't take a picture of my night I had to improvise.
Last night Matt and I went on a little dinner and movie date.  We saw The King's Speech which was good!  Then when we got back, what did we do?  Watch another movie!!!!  We definitely loove our movie nights and Netflix.  Those are the best night: relaxing in your sweats, eating, keeping warm and watching movies.  Soo exciting I know :)
Well- gotta run, Matt's parents are on their way here!  We're going out for lunch/dinner for his birthday on Tuesday!!  Our first visitors! :)  Tootles!

My Favorite Show Everrrr

February 11, 2011

Day #3: A picture of the cast of your favorite show.

Well- that's a no-brainer!!!  I have been watching One Tree Hill (aka OTH) since the first episode of the first season -- eight seasons ago!  I have every season on DVD and I can remember sitting at home watching it or in my dorm room & apartments with girlfriends.  For a while though, the show was about to go bye-bye, however was saved by fans and contract negotiations for the actors in it.  Thank goodness!
I have been though all the ups and downs and I swear I cry during every episode, whether good or bad.  Haley & Nathan's relationship is a mirror image of how I want to live.  The writing is so amazing and really cuts to your core, making you think about every word.  Countless times, I have used a OTH quote to think about life and all that happens in it.
Another aspect I like is how unknown artists and bands are used in each show.  While the events transpire, a song comes on that really enhances the whole feel of the episode.  It's so amazing.  After every show, the CD and songs of artists used will come on the screen which I think is great.  We see so many of Lady Gaga, Justin Bieber.. and so many others -- but what about those who are trying to get to that kind of status?  I've never heard a song I didn't like on the show, the artists are really great.  I encourage you to check the music out, or even the show!  Tuesdays at 8pm on the CW :)

I leave you with some of my favorite One Tree Hill quotes:

Yes, losing your hearts desire is tragic but gaining your hearts desire? It's all you can hope for, this year I wished for love... to immerse myself in someone else and to wake a heart long afraid to feel. My wish was granted and if having that is tragic then give me tragedy, because I wouldn't give it back for the world. ~OTH

Tragedies happen. What are you gonna do, give up? Quit? No. I realize now that when your heart breaks, you got to fight like hell to make sure you're still alive. Because you are. And that pain you feel? That's life. The confusion and fear? That's there to remind you that somewhere out there is something better, & that something is worth fighting for. ~OTH

You can choose to blame your circumstances on fate, or bad luck, or bad choices. Or you can fight back. Things aren't always gonna be fair in the real world, that's just the way it is. But for the most part, you get what you give. Let me ask you all a question, what's worse- not getting everything you wished for, or getting it but finding it's not enough? The rest of your life is being shaped right now, with the dreams you chase, the choices you make, and the person you decide to be. The rest of your life is a long time, and the rest of your life starts right now. ~OTH

To My Sister

February 10, 2011

Day #2: A picture of you and someone you have been close with for a while.

(OK- before I move on... I have some exciting news!.... At work today I met Stephen Lang aka the star of Avatar, Law & Order: SVU & CI, The Men Who Stare At Goats AND (fun fact I just saw) he was even in the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air where he played a criminal gun shooter.  Cool huh?  I think so.  He was such a nice man, very down to earth and hilarious.  Another thing: since I was the floor director for the entertainment show he was on, I even had to mic him!  Sometimes.. in a very rare moon, my job is cool.)

Anywho.. onto day 2.  (hey, that rhymed!)

<--- So, this is a picture of my sister and I.  Growing up we were typical siblings: fighting, civilized, fighting again... that happens in every household though, right?  Right??!
We are only 14 months apart and I can remember SO many times growing up when people would ask us if we were twins.  (Then later on in life, people would ask if I was the older one, so I just went with it. hehehe)  I also have fond memories of playing outside, (when we shared a bedroom) we would help each other study and, when forced to eat our veggies at the dinner table, help the other pile peas in a crumpled napkin.  (Sorry, Mom! :) Oh yeah- and for the week I tried to learn the flute, she'd steal it from me which made me give it up.  (OK maybe I'm exaggerating- I wasn't into the flute)
I chose my sister because even growing up we were growing closer together.  We've been on family vacations, weddings (including my sissy's own!) together as well as the ups and downs of life.  But through it all, and especially now, I feel like I can tell her anything.  We've grown much closer even while we were at college and now that we're in separate states.  I miss her dearly!  We love scrapbooking and shopping together and it's fun to be around her.  She's a jokester!!  We have a lot of laughs and talks... and she is a great role model as well.  Maybe someday we can live down the road from one another.  Then we could do everything together!!  Woohoo!  So let's hear it for my sister Kristin!!!! I <3 you!

This Is It... Super Bowl XLV

February 6, 2011

Words cannot describe how excited I am sitting here on the couch, watching the Pre-game show before Super Bowl 45 kicks off.  Every now and then, I have to almost literally pinch myself as a reminder the Pittsburgh Steelers are in the Super Bowl.  We made it!!  Amazing.  I am on the edge of my seat waiting for THE biggest game to start... only 1 hour and 40 minutes.  Ahhh!  I've been watching so many videos that fans post on YouTube, Facebook and Twitter which make me smile.  So, in honor of the big game, here are some fun Tweets from Steelers as well as random facts.  You're welcome-- and HERE WE GO!

- We've worked long n hard 4 the past 13 months to prepare 4 this day... thank u 4 bein the best fans in ALL of sports.. we WILL reward u 2nite. 2 pm
- Just had the last meal. On the way to the stadium. This is it. Put up or shut up. Let's go STEELER NATION!!! 4 pm

Fun Factoids:
Tickets to the first Super Bowl game, in 1967, cost anywhere from $6 to $12.  (If only it stayed like that)

The last time the Super Bowl was in Texas, in 2004, Justin Timberlake ripped off part of Janet Jackson's top to expose her -- uh -- well, you know what happened.  (Good luck, Fergie)

Don't Quit

February 3, 2011

Thanks, Mom for the email :)

Don't Quit

When things go wrong
As they sometimes will,
When the road you're trudging
Seems all-uphill.
When you're feeling low
And the stress is high,
And you want to smile
But you have to sigh.
When worries are getting
You down a bit...
By all means pray--
And don't you quit!
Success is failure
Turned inside out.
God's hidden gift in
The clouds of doubt.
You never can tell
How close you are--
It may be near
When it seems so far.
So trust in the Lord
When you're hardest hit
It's when things go wrong
That you must not quit!
